🐾 We are trained, certified and accredited dog trainers and pet behaviourists in the North East.
🐾 We have specialists in reactive and aggressive dogs, particularly herding breeds like German Shepherds and Border Collies.
🐾 We have a senior instructor for the Dog Training College as our head trainer who trains other trainers to deliver seminars to the public.
🐾 We have 2 training venues in the North East and a Dog walking company rated 2nd in the UK. More venues will be added soon!
🐾 We work with hundreds of dogs every month in classes and 1:1s with fantastic success rates.
🐾 We have multiple awards for dog training including winners of UK Dog Trainer of the Year, certificates in double figures and have been in multiple books, blogs and online areas.

My History
I haven't always been a dog trainer, although it has always been a passion! I grew up with a German Shepherd cross Collie called Ben who was a fantastic dog, extremely well behaved and loving, except that he was an escape artist. Sadly he grew old and crossed the rainbow bridge when I was 11 years old.
For the next 14 years, I was dogless! I even had cats!
After leaving school, I worked in a door factory for a few months before starting a job in the Court Service. During my time in the court service, I learned a method called LEAN. This was a way of getting from A to B for a certain task in the quickest and most effective way whilst minimising risk, which is something that I can now bring to dog training. I stayed in the Court Service for 9 years, and while there I had a variety of jobs, from management to Court Clerking for Circuit Judges, I worked on various projects including ones where I created processes for Bills that were passing through Parliament and fed back recommendations to them.

Julia
Dog Trainers Assistant
Hi my name is Julia, I have had a passion for dog behaviour since I started volunteering in an animal rescue centre when I left college at 21 and I now work in a dog daycare centre, I have two dogs of my own a Chihuahua and a Jack Russell X who are both rescues. I completed a canine behaviour training diploma last year through centre of excellence which has provided me with a more in depth knowledge of dog behaviour and training methods. I will be helping out at the puppy classes in Shields, Durham and Gateshead venues.
Nathan Leighton
Dog Trainer and Behaviourist
Nathan is the senior behaviourist and founder of The Dog Trainers. For the last 10 years, he has helped 3000+ dogs to be calmer and more confident in the human world. He is highly accredited, if not the most accredited trainer in the UK. His main goal is to strengthen the dog-human relationship, using force free, ethical methods, and help dogs and humans coexist.

I've always been interested in dog training and behaviour and had family dogs since I was
I started my dog training journey helping train working sheepdogs when I was 15. My passion for dog training came to life when I got my first own dog as he was a nervous rescue who didn't trust people due to how he had been treated. Working with him he gained confidence and we ended up taking part in agility competitions which he loved! My next dog was a reactive greyhound with a high prey drive and through her I was introduced to concept training and training through games, which forms the basis of my training methods today.
I am currently studying Working with Aggression with DoGenius, School of Canine Science Behaviour Bible, Puppy Lab and Scent for 6
Brenna Blades
Dog Trainer
Brenna is a Certified Dog Trainer, specialising in puppies, reactivity and scent work. At the time of writting, Brenna is the only Fear Free Certified Groomer in the North East where she helps dogs that become aggressive during grooming to be content and happy with regular handling. She currently runs the Gosforth puppy classes and is available for 1 to 1 dog training.
Angela Rowland
Dog Trainer and Behaviourist
Ange is a qualified Canine Behaviour Practitioner and Trainer. Her passion lies in helping fearful and reactive dogs, which she has extensive experience with (both with her own German Shepherd and working with Clients' dogs) and she has focused her studies on this topic. Ange is highly qualified and holds practical-based assessment accreditations.
Jade Batchelor
Dog Trainer and Behaviourist
In 2016, I began my career volunteering at a daycare and training centre, soon moving to a paid position and began training dogs alongside qualified IMDT trainers.
I am now a qualified and accredited behaviourist with the IMDT achieving a Level 5 qualification. I am committed to on going learning and regularly attend seminars and courses. I live in The New Forest with my two beloved Golden Retrievers: Amber and Brooke
Jaake Tod

Jaake is a qualified Dog Trainer, accredited with the IMDT where he passed with a Distinction.
Jaake strongly believes in only using ethical and force-free training methods with a goal to not only inspire as many people as possible to enjoy training their dogs, but also inspire people to want to learn as much as possible about their canine companions so we can all give them the life they deserve
