Zoe

This week we had our initial consultation with Zoe.

Zoe is a rescue from another country who now has some fab guardians. The first thing they did when they got her was to contact me for some help training, this means that we can potentially avoid bigger problems down the line and stop rehearsal of unwanted behaviours straight away.

Zoe has some anxieties, with males, other dogs and things going over her head, like leads, harnesses and collars. She also pulls on the lead. We made some tweaks to the training they already have in place so that we can build her confidence where she needs it. When you’re training dogs, it’s important to see past behaviours and understand the emotion behind it, so when it comes to changing behaviours, first you change the emotion and the behaviour is no longer needed by the dog. For Zoe, we started with simple tweaks and some foundations, while getting these in place, we can let her enjoy her walks without forcing her into an environment she’s not comfortable with, from there, she will be in a better position to learn!
