Freya is a lovely dog, though she can become quite stressed. Even small thingsโ€”like her owner walking down the stairs, passing through a gate, or preparing for a walkโ€”can make her spin in circles frantically. She also tends to bite at feet when frustrated and often grabs onto her lead.

Freyaโ€™s behaviour plan includes support from a vet behaviourist, who suspects hip dysplasia in both hips, which might be adding to her stress. Recently, she started a new course of anti-anxiety medication, so todayโ€™s session was focused on light training to give the medication time to kick in.

We worked on training outdoors, practising loose lead walking, and helping her relax when leaving the house. Freya did fantastically well, and by the end of the session, she was lying down by choice, calm and happyโ€”just like a regular, relaxed dog.

Freya has a way to go, especially with reducing her spinning behaviour, but sheโ€™s showing great progress, and her owners have been incredibly dedicated. Massive well done to Freya and her amazing owners!
