Do I Need To Walk My Dog?

Meet Libby the German Shepherd/Alaskan Malamute/Border Collie mix.

This was our second session of dog training in Wallsend with Libby and her guardian and we have seen a HUGEEEE change

The first time we saw Libby, she was an anxious mess outside. Majorly hyper-vigilant, reactive to everything - people and dogs and just miserable outside, and also wouldn’t take food!

Libby previously had a vet recommended behaviorist out to help, who had left some confidence-building activities that we have been able to build on, but we made some dramatic changes to get success.

Basically, we stopped walks. Libby is a young, healthy dog, and walks just weren’t benefitting her in any way. We’ve done nearly 8 weeks without walks, continued with confidence-building activities but added in relationship-building activities and loose leash walking training.

As you can see, the results speak for themselves.

Libby is now happy and focused outside and doing amazing!

Her reactivity is loads better and we will continue to work on this over the coming months.

Libby and her guardian have done amazing and stopping walks was a huge ask but has paid off wonderfully!
