Big, Scary Blue (soft as clarts)

We recently went to see this big fella help his guardian sort some pulling and reactivity issues that he was displaying.

Blue was a rescue and we aren’t really to sure about his history, but up close he’s a big friendly guy that loves his snacks, but if he sees you out and about, there is lots of barking and lunging that can look scary!

We were there just half an hour for this session but he did really well, we were getting some lovely check-ins on his loose leash walking and then started working with people and dogs.

Here is what we did:

  • Walked backward in an unpredictable fashion, throwing a treat for him to catch when he followed (he prefers to catch treats)

  • Switched him to walking at a heel, still throwing treats for him checking in

  • Taught a “treat” marker cue to start counter-conditioning him to people and dogs in our next session

Blue is a happy chap that is just a little too over-aroused when he gets out. He’ll do just fine!

Well done Blue and co!
