Jessica and Indiana joined us about 3 and a half months ago as Indiana was barking at people and dogs, dragging her around on the lead, and being generally just difficult to handle.
Jessica is used to working with dogs, as a vet, so she fully committed herself to the behaviour program.
Being the amazing owner she is, Indiana had plenty of training beforehand, attending classes in obedience and agility, so had great foundations.
The problem was that what had been learned hadn’t been put into the real world.
Indiana wouldn’t eat outside, which caused a big issue at the start of the training, so that’s where we started, by teaching heel behaviour in the house and slowly moving the heel work out of the house.
This taught Indiana that outdoors meant training time, and now he goes out actively looking at Jessica for food and instructions.
Next, we tackled dogs and people, we used several techniques to teach him to relax around other dogs and people and look to Jessica for fun when he saw these.
During our last session, the dogs were walking right next to Indiana, and he even tried to hump my leg, not bite it off as he would have originally.
Both Indiana and Jessica have done amazing and really deserve their brilliant results!
Well done both of you.
