This weekend Denise started working with Lola and her owners on her reactivity to traffic and people when she's off leading. Lolas is very quick at picking up associations and as a way of avoiding traffic even refused to go certain routes on walks that took to her as busy roads.
We eased Lola into desensitising to being outside using a sniffing game. We wanted to avoid her staying still for too long otherwise she would refuse to walk, instead, we gave her a job. Using her nose is a great way of calming her down, and building positive associations, all whilst giving her a job to do.
As Lola picked it up really quickly we managed to get off the driveway and around the first corner, she even started offering behaviours just to keep moving so we started to capture and mold a loose lead walking cue.
She has done absolutely fantastic and didn't take long at all for her to come out of her shell!
