Marvin with Biting Problem

Back to see Marvin for the first time since lockdown!

Although Marvin looks like butter wouldn’t melt, Marvin is actually a very complex dog.

There are very few owners that would have put up with Marvin and I truly believe he would have been put to sleep already had he been with a different person.

Huge hats off to his guardians for working with him and persevering.

Marvin basically had gut problems and due to this he is very irritable. He, unfortunately, didn’t learn bite inhibition when he was younger and gets a lot of intrinsic reinforcement from biting his owners, which makes him feel better when having a bad day. These bites have led to one of his owners going to A&E several times.

Obviously, this isn’t okay, and an awful lot of management steps have had to be put in place to avoid this.

Marvin is also a resource guarder, which includes guarding space and food, so the majority of his training needs to happen outside the home environment.

There’s still a long way to go with Marvin, but I’m confident that we can and will get him sorted ASAP.

Well done everyone, you’ve achieved what most wouldn’t!
