Buddy the Golden Retriever

Buddy, from South Shields, is a very enthusiastic Golden Retriever. Buddy has a habit of going into uncontrollable zoomies when greeting other dogs or humans. During our session, we focused on teaching him appropriate greetings and helping him manage his arousal levels. For the first session, Buddy did exceptionally well. He met several dogs and people and we were able to calm him down and teach him appropriate greetings at every step of the way.

Go Buddy!

Zoomies at the door are usually an arousal problem rather than a manners problem, so building appropriate greetings step by step with Buddy sounds exactly right. Retrievers seem to cross that threshold in a second and then cannot come back down without someone helping them. Getting several calm meetings inside one session is a real result. Just Be Patient is the line I end up repeating to owners who expected a fortnight fix.
